There was a shadow on the wall. Nondescript, motionless, but the longer I studied it, the edges seemed to quiver, then it began to morph into something alive, something sinister. I laid down in my bed and pulled the covers over my head. I looked down my baby doll.
"Marthena," I quaked in my high pitched whisper, "I'm scared."
But nothing could hold back the evil of the shadow, as I looked back up, it was somehow different, closer than before. It captivat-
"Wait a minute, you're repeating yourself."
"What?"
"You already said that."
"Did not."
"Yes you did."
"No. I did not."
"Yes, and it doesn't matter anyway. The whole thing sucks. What a crappy beginning for a novel."
"Shut up. You're not even a freakin' writer. Why do you even get a say in the matter?"
"Because, I said so, stupid."
"Oh, that's juvenile."
"Well, I'm your internal editor and I can be as juvenile as I want to be. NA-NA-NA-NA-BOO-BOO. And besides, you know I'm right."
"Are not."
"Am too!"
"You suck. Go away."
"Fine, but I'll come back later to check on your 'progress' - if you can call it that."

Crappy voice shuts up. Deep breath.
"Okay, now where was I?."
It captivated me, as I stood frozen . . .
Lindsay, there are days [you know, the days I talk to you] when you just crack me up!
You really need to write some short stories or something!
